Esta es una variación una Manta Fantasía, y aquí les doy un anticipo… 

Last year, I designed the Fantasy Blanket.  Given that it has some “flowers”, I feel it is more appropriate for a girl; but now I decided to make a “boy version”.  I am changing the design a bit; therefore, I am planning on sharing the modified stitch patterns when I finish it (hopefully at the end of the month).  I chose a baby yarn in colors that remind me of the ocean.  If you want to see the progress, check it out in Instagram @lanasdeana.

El año pasado diseñé la MantaFantasía.  Dado que tiene diseños florales, siento que es más apropiada para una niña; pero ahora decidí hacer una “versión para niño”. Estoy cambiando un poco el diseño; por lo tanto, estoy planeando compartir las puntadas modificadas al final.   Voy a usar lana para bebé, en colores que me recuerdan al mar.  Estaré mostrando el progreso en Instagram@lanasdeana. 

4° Mood Blanket + one

This is the fourth blanket for the Mood Blanket Challenge 2014…

Esta es la cuarta manta para el RetoMood Blanket 2014… 

It is a baby boy blanket, made in crochet.  I kept it simple this time:  All Dc stripes.  But to make it fun, I alternated colors:  Country blue, grey, cream, autumn red, light blue, brown and beige. 

Es una manta para un bebé, hecha en ganchillo.  La puntada es muy simple: todos puntos altos.  Para hacerlo divertido, decidí alternar los colores: azul, gris, crema, rojo, celeste, café y beige.

My aunt also made one of these "Dc stripes" baby blankets, but alternated colors…but for a baby girl.  It is so cute!

Mi tía también hizo una de estas mantas de bebé con puntos altos y colores intercalados…pero para niña.  ¡Es tan tierna!

Mood Blanket Challenge: 123 / 365

Don´t think I have forgotten about the Mood Blanket Challenge…

No crean que me he olvidado del RetoMood Blanket…

I have been quietly working the rows for the next Mood Blanket.  This time I will keep it simple:  All Dc stripes.  I will alternate between the following colors to make a blanket for a baby boy: Brown, grey, cream, autumn red, light blue and beige.  My progress so far: 23 stripes (one color stripe per day).

Calladamente he estado tejiendo hilera por hilera de la próxima manta del reto Mood Blanket.   En esta ocasión estoy usando una puntada simple, de sólo puntos altos.  Elegí los siguientes colores para una manta de niño: café, gris, crema, celeste, beige y rojo otoño.  Mi progreso a la fecha: 23 franjas.

My mom is also taking part of the Mood Blanket Challenge, and she has been making granny stripes blankets too…

Mi mamá también está participando del Reto “Mood Blanket Challenge”, y ha estado tejiendo mantas de franjas de la abuelita (granny stripes)…

As you can see, mom also made her own version of the granny stripes with flower squares at the beginning and end (Similar to the one I showed you last time: 3rdMood Blanket).  And for the boy version, she used yarns in shades of blue.

Como pueden apreciar, mi mamá también hizo su versión de la manta con cuadros de flor al inicio y final (similar a la que les mostré en la entrada pasada: 3rd Mood Blanket.

3rd Mood Blanket (100/365)

Granny Stripes with a Twist

As I shared before, I am taking part of the “Mood Blanket Challenge”.  But instead of making one huge blanket, I am making several baby ones.  This is the third blanket of the year, reaching 100 squares (or granny stripes) so far…and 265 more to go.  This blanket is made with granny stripes…with a twist:

Como les compartí al inicio del año, estoy participando en el Reto “Mood Blanket”.  Pero en lugar de hacer una frazada gigante, decidí hacer varias para bebé.  Esta es la tercera manta de bebé del año, alcanzando un total de 100 cuadros (o franjas)…y aún faltan 265 hasta el final del año.  Esta manta está hecha con franjas de la abuelita (granny)…con un nuevo giro:

I started this blanket with a row of flower granny squares (check for chart here: Sunburst-likeMotif).  Then I made the rest of the blanket with granny stripes (check for chart here: Blankets with GrannyStripes).  The last row was then joined (as-you-go) to another row of flower squares.  This was a kind of experiment, so there was a little bit of “make, unravel and remake”, but I am glad it worked out at the end.

My mom is also taking part of the Mood Challenge, and she made her own version of this blanket too, which I will show you next week…

Comencé haciendo esta manta con una hilera de cuadritos florales (patrón gráfico: Sunburst-like motif).  El resto lo hice con “franjas de la abuelita” (granny stripes; patrón gráfico acá).  Por último, la franjas se unen con una última hilera de cuadritos florales.  Esto fue una especia de experimento, así que tuve que hacer y deshacer varias veces, y me alegro que al final funcionó.

Mi mamá también está participando del reto, y en la próxima ocasión les mostraré las versiones que ella tejió…

I already started the third “baby Mood Blanket”…

Ya comencé a tejer la tercera manta de bebé para el reto “Mood Challenge”…

Inspired by spring, I started the blanket with flower motifs…but they “my mood” took me in a different direction, and I continued it with granny stripes.  Today is the day 90 of the challenge, so I am a little more advanced than the pictures show.  If all goes as planned, I should finish it next week…

Inspirada en la primavera, comencé la manta con flores…pero luego le di un giro al tema, y seguí con líneas granny.  Hoy es el día 90 del Reto, así que voy un poco más avanzada que lo que muestran las fotos.  Si no hay contratiempos, debería terminar esta manta la próxima semana…

With granny number 67, I am finishing the second baby blanket, as part of the Crochet Mood Blanket Challenge... 

Con el cuadrito número 67 estoy terminando la segunda manda de bebé, como parte del Reto Crochet Mood Blanket...

As I mentioned before, instead of making one huge blanket, I will be making several baby blankets. The first one was made with 42 squares. The motifs of this second blanket are larger, therefore it only needed 25 squares.  I made solid granny squares in: navy blue, red, grey, green, yellow, light blue and orange.  All colored squares were later joined on the last row with color white.

Como mencioné antes, en lugar de hacer una gran manta, decidí hacer varias mantas de bebé. La primera la hice con 42 cuadros.  La segunda tiene sólo 25 cuadros, pero los motifs son más grandes.  Primero hice cuadros de colores: azul marino, rojo, verde, gris, amarillo mostaza, celeste y naranja.  Luego uní estos cuadros de color en la última pasada con blanco.   

Today is day 68, so I already made the square for the day, which is the start of a new blanket…

Hoy es el día 68, así que ya hice el cuadrito del día, lo cual marca el inicio de una nueva manta…

For Preemies and a Preview

These tiny crochet hats were made for two baby twins that were born prematurely.  The twins were a boy and a girl…

Estas pequeñas gorras son un pedido especial para unos gemelos que nacieron prematuramente.  Los gemelos son un niño y una niña…

I made both with a soft cotton in grey, and then gave each one a special touch: in navy blue for the boy and pink for the girl. 

Ambas gorras están hechas con un algodón suave en color gris; luego a cada uno le di un toque especial: en azul marino para el niño y en rosado para la niña.

I also want to show you a preview of the next Crochet Mood Blanket…

The first one for a baby girl, and this second one will be for a boy.   These squares are larger, so that means that it will take only 25 squares.  Therefore, this weekend I ought to finish it…

También les quiero mostrar un adelanto de la siguiente manta del “Reto Mood”…

La primera la hice para una niña, así que decidí hacer la segunda para un niño.  Los cuadros son más grandes, así que necesitaré hacer sólo 25 cuadros.  Esto significa que podré terminarla el fin de semana…

First Mood Blanket

In the beginning of the year, I joined the Challenge: “Crochet Mood Blanket 2014”, started by Stacey from the blog Frofunky. The challenge is to make one granny each day, for a total of 365 in the whole year.  Most of the participants are making one huge blanket, but I decided to make several baby blankets instead; and I will be donating these blankets to a charity organization (Pijamitas con Amor) that helps babies in need. 

Al principio del año me uní al Reto: “Crochet Mood Blanket 2014”, convocado por Stacey del blog Frofunky.  El reto consiste en tejer un cuadrito al día, para terminar con 365 al final del año.  La mayoría de los participantes están tejiendo frazadas enormes, pero yo decidí hacer varias mantas pequeñas para bebé, las cuales estaré donando a una caridad (Pijamitas con Amor) que ayuda a recién nacidos necesitados. 

My progress so far is: 42 squares.  This means I have finished my first blanket.

Hoy alcancé la marca de 42 cuadritos de la abuela, que unidos forman la primera manta. 

I joined all squares with white yarn.  I used the “sc joining method” (alternating with a chain, to avoid being too bulky).

Uní los cuadritos con lana blanca, usando el método de unión con punto bajo (alternado con una cadena para evitar que quede muy grueso).

The border is simple as well: granny stripes in white and green, and the final row all sc.

El borde es también simple, en blanco y verde, con una hilera final en punto bajo.

In Instagram, there is a crochet challenge that started on January 1^st: Crochet Mood Blanket 2014.  The challenge consists of making one granny square a day to make a total of 365 at the end of the year (or one per week, to finish with 52 squares).  The squares can be joined “as you go” to form a blanket, or joined together at the end.

En Instagram se está llevando a cabo un reto de ganchillo que comenzó el primero de enero.  El reto consiste en tejer un cuadro de la abuelita (ing. granny square) cada día para alcanzar un total de 365 al año [o también está la opción de hacer uno por semana para un total de 52]. Los cuadros se pueden ir uniendo en el camino, o al final, para formar una manta grande.

It is called “Mood Blanket” because we are supposed to choose the color of each square depending on our mood of that day.  I personally decided to choose the color not related to my mood but to my inspiration, as I will be making baby blankets with the granny squares, which will be later donated to a hospital.

Se le llama “Manta Temperamental” porque uno debe escoger el color de cada día según el humor que uno tenga en ese momento.  Personalmente decidí escoger el color por inspiración del momento, y no tanto por el temperamento, ya que usaré los cuadros para hacer mantas de bebé para donarlos a un hospital.

Fantasy Blanket: the Reveal

This is the official reveal of my Fantasy Blanket (in full view), as well as two others, made by my mom and aunt.  I just love that each one is unique and has its own “personality”, but in essence it is the same Fantasy blanket...

Esta es la presentación oficial de mi Manta Fantasía (en vista completa), al igual que otras dos, tejidas por mi madre y mi tía.  Me encanta que cada una tiene su propia personalidad, pero en esencia son la misma “Manta Fantasía”...

Made with medium yarn, in 12 colors.  Small (baby size).

b. Fantasy by Beatriz 

My mom changed the order of the sections, and made the First Section (Stripes) with a "granny" center.  

Mi mamá cambió el orden de las secciones, y el centro de las Franjas la hizo al estilo "granny". 

Color inspiration:  a flannel receiving blanket. 

Inspiración para el colorido: una manta de franela.

c. Fantasy by Chichi

My aunt added an extra stitch pattern: alternating Dc and sc (and the opposite in the next row.

Mi tía añadió otra puntada, que alterna un Punto alto y un punto bajo (y lo opuesto en la siguiente hilera). 

She made a lacier border. 

También hizo un borde diferente, más calado.
