Currently, I have two projects on my crochet hooks…

Actualmente tengo dos proyectos en mis agujas de ganchillo… 

a.  Baby blanket

I am making a small baby blanket, with granny squares in these colors:

El primer proyecto es una manta pequeña para bebé, en cuadritos de la abuela (granny squares), con estos colores:

I will be joining the squares with a last row in white, using the “continuous join-as-you-go” method. 

Estaré uniendo los cuadros con lana blanca en la última hilera. 

b. Cotton poncho

I am also making a light poncho in cotton (double thread).

El segundo proyecto es un pocho liviano en algodón (con doble hilo). 

I hope to show you soon the final results (and you can follow the progress on Instagram: lanasdeana).

I have been absent from my blog for a while, due to a heavy load of work.  Yet, in my spare time I have done some knitting and crocheting.  Here are some of the things I have been working on…

He estado ausente del blog por un tiempo, ya que he tenido mucho trabajo.  Sin embargo, en los momentos libres he podido tejer un poco.  Estas son algunas de las cosas que he estado haciendo…

a. Granny poncho

una manta grande con cuadritos de la abuela (granny)…en colores neutrales + rojo

…and I have already started joining the squares.

…y ya comencé a unir los cuadritos.

I am knitting a baby cardigan from the neck down.  I went for an unsual color combination, which I am loving: antique pink + dark grey.

Estoy tejiendo un cardigan para bebé en dos agujas.  Escogí una combinación inusual de colores, que me parece muy elegante: rosado antiguo y gris oscuro.

  

And I am crocheting a lacy hat to match these cute little baby shoes.

Y estoy haciendo una gorra calada en ganchillo, para combinar con estos zapatitos blancos.

I have also been working on a baby blanket which is almost done.  I just need to finish the last rows for the border.

También estoy terminando una manta para bebé.  Sólo me falta tejer las últimas hileras…¡y listo!

I am in the process of making a lacy top in crochet, with a light weight cotton and hook 3mm.  It will be similar to one I made for a relative some years ago (Motif Lacy Top @ Lanas & Hilos). 

Actualmente estoy tejiendo una blusa calada en ganchillo con algodón liviano y gancho de 3mm.  Será similar a uno que le hice a una pariente hace unos años (Blusa Calada de Motifs @ Lanas & Hilos).

Estoy avanzando…

…with the cotton top.  I am knitting on the round, from the bottom up; I will separate the front and back when reaching the arms. 

…con la blusa de algodón.  Estoy tejiendo en redondo, desde abajo para arriba; cuando llegue a la parte de los brazos, separaré las parte de frente y atrás. 

Also making progress with the Daisy blanket.  I finished the squares, and it is now time to join them.  I am using a continuous joining method, so this part will go faster than usual.

También estoy avanzando con la manta de margaritas.  Ya terminé los cuadros, y ahora es tiempo de unirlos.  Estoy usando un método de unión continua, así que iré más rápido (en los enlaces siguientes encuentran las instrucciones en inglés, pero con gráficas y fotos).

Summer Top in progress

Warmer weather has arrived, and it is time to take out the cotton yarns… 

Ya está llegando el calorcito, y es hora de sacar los hilos de algodón…

I am making a knit summer top, combining two cotton threads (one lace and one super fine).  I am going for a “jeans look”.  I am improvising, so I am hoping it will work (fingers crossed!).

Estoy tejiendo a dos agujas una blusa en algodón, combinando hilos finos de dos colores para darle un toque “vaquero” (estilo jeans).  Estoy improvisando, así que espero que todo salga bien.

WIP: Daisy Blanket

Two years ago I made the Daisy Blanket, and I loved it.  So I thought I should make it again.  This time, I will make a few changes: I will use the Join-as-you-go method for joining the squares (last time I joined with sc sts), and I will use a DK yarn (last time I used worsted).  Here are some shots of the work in progress…

Hace dos años hice una Manta Margarita (Daisy Blanket), y me gustó tanto que pensé en repetirla de nuevo.  Pero en esta ocasión haré algunos cambios: usaré una lana más liviana, y uniré los cuadros con en la última pasada de forma continua (en lugar de con puntos bajos, como lo hice en la anterior).  Aquí hay unas fotos del progreso…

It is time to pick up a WIP (work in progress): a baby blanket made with the African Flower Motif…

Ya es tiempo de retomar este proyecto en ganchillo que he dejado a medio terminar: una manta para bebé, utilizando la aplicación de la flor africana… 

I can´t believe I had no finished it yet because it is almost done… It is going to be a baby blanket for a stroller, so it will be on the small side.  I just need to add one more row and make the border. So I hope to share the final product soon…

No puedo creer que no la haya terminado aún, ya que es poco lo que me falta—sólo una hilera más, y luego el borde final.  Va a ser una manta para un carruaje de bebé, así que no será muy grande.  Espero mostrarles el producto final muy pronto…

I am having lots of fun mixing and matching colors.  And I confess I started joining before finishing all the flowers.  I could not wait to see how it would look with the white final row, which will make the background…and I am loving it!

Me estoy divirtiendo mezclando colores. Y debo confesar que comencé a unirlas antes de terminar todas las flores.  No podía esperar para ver cómo se vería el fondo blanco…y felizmente me gusta mucho.

It is time to start a new baby blanket…

Es tiempo de comenzar una nueva manta para bebé…

I have always wanted to make a blanket with African Flowers, and I finally decided to start one.  I will using a DK yarn (Dora), with 4 mm hook.  I will be using these colors (shown in photo), and the background will be all in white.  

How fun it is to start a new project!

Siempre he querido hacer una manta con la Flor Africana, y finalmente decidí comenzar una.  Estaré usando una lana liviana (Dora) con un ganchillo de 4 mm.  Estaré usando los colores que muestro en la foto de arriba, y todo el fondo será en blanco.  

¡Qué emocionante iniciar un nuevo proyecto!

After an overload of crochet (finishing my huge crochet tablecloth), now it is time to pick up my knitting needles.  Here are two projects I am working on:

Luego de una sobredosis de ganchillo (con mi mantel enorme), estoy lista para trabajar en dos agujas.  Estos son dos proyectos en progreso…  

  

a. Cotton Shawl: with mixed stripes in blue, white, red, and grey.  I am happily experimenting with a new pattern (Josephine Shawl, found in Ravelry).  Thanks for the tip, Carmen ;-)

a.  Chal de algodón: con franjas mixtas en colores: azul, blanco, gris y rojo. Estoy probando un nuevo patrón (Chal Josefina), gracias a la referencia de Carmen, de Café & Puntadas. ¡Muchas gracias, amiga!

b. And here is the beginning of a Cotton Top.  It will be a new version of the top I made for my sister: Cotton Experiment.  I am making this one in different shades of green.  But this time I am making a kind of an experiment…I started the top part in crochet, and decided to knit the rest. 

b.  Y este es el comienzo de una blusa en algodón.  Es una nueva versión de la blusa que le hice a mi hermana: Experimento en Algodón.  Ahora estoy usando varios tonos verdes.  Pero en esta ocasión lo haré con una variación: la parte de arriba es en ganchillo, y el resto lo haré en dos agujas.

My “World-Cup project” is growing bigger…

The idea of making a table runner actually progressed, and now I decided to make a full tablecloth.  I just had to make sure I could find enough cream cotton thread…and I did (with the help of some friends!). 

La idea de hacer un centro de mesa progresó…y ahora decidí hacer un mantel completo.  Sólo tenía que asegurarme de encontrar suficiente hilo crema, y ya lo logré (con la ayuda de unas amiguitas). 

It turned out to be a big huge project, but I am actually enjoying the process very much, and it is flying.  I found a way to join the motifs in a continuous way, and this is making the progress so much easier.  It is almost covering the whole table now!  I can´t wait to use it on my dinner table…     

A veces pienso que estoy un poco loca al tratar de hacer un proyecto tan grande; pero la realidad es que lo estoy disfrutando mucho, y está avanzando rápidamente.  Me ingenié la forma de unir los motifs en forma continua, y eso hace que el proceso sea mucho más fácil. Ya casi esta cubriendo toda la mesa.  No aguanto las ganas de usar el mantel en mi mesa de comedor…

World Cup Project

There is a world-wide party going on: the Soccer World Cup, Brazil 2014.  I am not a huge sports fan, but I can´t help to turn on the TV to follow the soccer games.  Why I am telling you this?  Well, because I decided to start a new crochet project while “half-watching” the games... 

Hay una fiesta a nivel mundial: La Copa Mundial de Fútbol, Brasil 2014.  No soy una gran fanática de los deportes, pero no puedo evitar participar de cierta forma de esta fiesta.  ¿Por qué les cuento esto?  Porque decidí comenzar un nuevo proyecto en ganchillo mientras que “medio veo” el Mundial… 

I am making a lacy table runner for my dining table, with fine cotton in double thread.  I will be using a motif I found in Pinterest.  The motifs will have color in the center and off white on the background. 

It is a big project, so I am wondering how far I can go while the World Cup runs…

Decidí hacer un mantel en ganchillo para la mesa del comedor, con hilo doble de algodón.  Estaré usando un motif que encontré en Pinterest.  El centro de los motifs irán con colores otoñales, y el fondo en color crema. 

Es un proyecto grande, así que me pregunto cuánto lograré avanzar en el transcurso de la Copa Mundial…
