Está completa la Manta Margarita…

It is a small blanket for a baby carriage.  I made it with DK yarn in bright colors, with a white background.  Total squares: 30.  For the border, I used the mosaic or block stitch.  This is the second time I have made this blanket (Daisy Blanket I), and I love it.  You can find the pattern @ Color ‘n Cream: Flower Square Tutorial.

Es una manta pequeña, para carruaje de bebé.  La hice con lana liviana en colores brillantes, con fondo blanco.  En total son 30 cuadros.  Para el borde, usé el punto mosaico o bloque.  Esta es la segunda vez que hago esta manta (Manta Margarita I), y me gusta mucho.  Pueden encontrar el tutorial (en inglés) y la gráfica para el cuadro @ Color ‘n Cream.

Baby set: Coral & White

This special baby set is a collaboration of my aunt, my mom and me, as a gift for a friend who just had a baby girl…

Este set para bebé es un regalo para una amiga que acaba de tener su bebé, hecho en colaboración con mi tía y mi mamá…

My aunt made the blanket using the “block or mosaic stitch”.  My mom made the border of the receiving blanket (with monkeys) and the cardigan (which is similar to the ones I made recently: Cute Baby Cardigan & Boy Version).  And I made the accessories: the headband and hair clips.  Don´t you love this color combination: coral, white, grey?

Mi tía tejió la manta en ganchillo, usando punto mosaico.  Mi mamá hizo el borde de la manta pequeña de franela,  al igual que el cardigan (similar a los que hice hace unas semanas: Baby Cardigan & Boy version).  Y yo hice los accesorios: la cinta de cabeza y los ganchos de pelo.  ¿No les parece hermosa la combinación de colores: coral, blanco y gris?

WIP: Daisy Blanket

Two years ago I made the Daisy Blanket, and I loved it.  So I thought I should make it again.  This time, I will make a few changes: I will use the Join-as-you-go method for joining the squares (last time I joined with sc sts), and I will use a DK yarn (last time I used worsted).  Here are some shots of the work in progress…

Hace dos años hice una Manta Margarita (Daisy Blanket), y me gustó tanto que pensé en repetirla de nuevo.  Pero en esta ocasión haré algunos cambios: usaré una lana más liviana, y uniré los cuadros con en la última pasada de forma continua (en lugar de con puntos bajos, como lo hice en la anterior).  Aquí hay unas fotos del progreso…

Blanket for a Baby Boy

A friend just had a baby boy.  As a gift, I made a blanket…

Una amiga acaba de dar a luz a su bebé, y le tejí una manta para su carruaje…

It is made all with Dc stitches (except the orange stripes that are made with Hdc st).  Inspired by the carriage, I used the following colors: brown, green, blue, baby blue, beige and cream.  For the border I used the “mosaic or block” stitch.  The blanket is big enough to cover the baby carriage (33 x 40”). 

Está hecha toda con puntos altos.  Inspirada en el carruaje, escogí los siguiente colores: café, verde, azul, celeste, beige, crema y naranja.  Para el borde, utilicé el punto mosaico.  La manta es suficientemente grande para cubrir el carruaje del bebé (aprox. 87 x 98 cms).

I finished the baby blanket with the African Flower motif…

Finalmente terminé la manta para bebé con la Flor Africana… 

I got distracted by other projects, but finally finished this lovely blanket…all 59 motifs + border.  Before making the border, I filled the gaps of the hexagons. For the border, I used the “Mosaic stitch” (which I used for here).  I love the colors (and I am already planning another blanket with the leftovers, but with a different motif).

Me distraje con otros proyectos, pero finalmente terminé esta linda mantita…formada por 59 motivos + borde.  Antes de hacer el borde, rellené los espacios que dejan los hexágonos.  Luego hice el borde usando el “punto mosaico” (que utilicé aquí).  Me gustan mucho los colores, y ya estoy planeando usar los restos para hacer otra, pero con otro motivo.

It is time to pick up a WIP (work in progress): a baby blanket made with the African Flower Motif…

Ya es tiempo de retomar este proyecto en ganchillo que he dejado a medio terminar: una manta para bebé, utilizando la aplicación de la flor africana… 

I can´t believe I had no finished it yet because it is almost done… It is going to be a baby blanket for a stroller, so it will be on the small side.  I just need to add one more row and make the border. So I hope to share the final product soon…

No puedo creer que no la haya terminado aún, ya que es poco lo que me falta—sólo una hilera más, y luego el borde final.  Va a ser una manta para un carruaje de bebé, así que no será muy grande.  Espero mostrarles el producto final muy pronto…

I am having lots of fun mixing and matching colors.  And I confess I started joining before finishing all the flowers.  I could not wait to see how it would look with the white final row, which will make the background…and I am loving it!

Me estoy divirtiendo mezclando colores. Y debo confesar que comencé a unirlas antes de terminar todas las flores.  No podía esperar para ver cómo se vería el fondo blanco…y felizmente me gusta mucho.

It is time to start a new baby blanket…

Es tiempo de comenzar una nueva manta para bebé…

I have always wanted to make a blanket with African Flowers, and I finally decided to start one.  I will using a DK yarn (Dora), with 4 mm hook.  I will be using these colors (shown in photo), and the background will be all in white.  

How fun it is to start a new project!

Siempre he querido hacer una manta con la Flor Africana, y finalmente decidí comenzar una.  Estaré usando una lana liviana (Dora) con un ganchillo de 4 mm.  Estaré usando los colores que muestro en la foto de arriba, y todo el fondo será en blanco.  

¡Qué emocionante iniciar un nuevo proyecto!

Polka-Dot Blanket

It is time to show you a new blanket, and this one is very special:  It is a Polka-Dot Blanket…

Llegó el momento de mostrarles una nueva manta, y esta es muy especial: es una Manta a Lunares…

The idea for this blanket was born because my mom wanted to make something to match these polka-dot flannel receiving blankets.  I suggested that she alternated plain granny squares with circle-to-square granny motifs…and it worked! 

La idea de esta manta nació porque mi mamá quería hacer algo que combinara con unas franelitas de lunares que tenía.  Yo le sugerí que hiciera una manta alternando cuadros de la abuelita con cuadros con un círculo en medio…y funcionó. 

The squares are sewn together, only on the back loop (using “the whipped stitch joining” method).  The all-white border gives it a special touch of elegance.  I really love this blanket; it is simple and classic, yet modern.

Los cuadros luego se cosen con aguja de mano (sólo tomando el punto de atrás).  El borde en color blanco le da un toque de elegancia.  Realmente me gusta como quedó esta manta, y es fácil de hacer.

FANTASY: New Stitches

As promised, here are the graphic patterns for the Blanket “Sand and Sea”, the boy version of the Fantasy Blanket:

For this version of the Fantasy blanket, I used a combination of the following three stitch patterns:

Para esta versión de la manta Fantasía, utilicé una combinación de los siguientes tres patrones: 

1. DC + granny

This is basically a granny line between rows of all Dc stitches.

Este patrón usa sólo puntos altos, y la hilera al medio es estilo “granny”, con grupos de 3 puntos altos juntos.

2. Waves B

This is a variation of the wave pattern I used in the original Fantasy blanket (Waves A).

Esta es una variación del patrón de ondas que utilicé en la manta Fantasía original (Waves A).

3. Shells

This last stitch pattern is the same as the original, but I am sharing the chart again to have all the patterns for the “Sand & Sea” blanket all in one post.

Este último patrón es el mismo que el original.

To make this blanket, you need to follow the instructions of the original Fantasy Blanket, but use these new stitch patterns instead.

Para tejer esta manta, deben seguir las instrucciones de la Fantasía original, pero utilizando estos nuevos patrones de puntadas.

Fantasy "Sand & Sea"

Ever since I made the Fantasy Blanket last year, I thought of making a “boy version” (the original Fantasy has a row of flowers, which is rather girly).  I am calling this blanket “Sand and Sea” because that is what the colors remind me of.  I used a variety of light blues, two shades of green, beige, cream, white and light grey…

Desde que terminé la Manta Fantasía el año pasado, he estado planeando hacer una versión para niño (la Fantasía original tiene unas hileras con flores, lo que la hace más femenina).  A esta manta le puse el nombre de “Arena y Mar” porque eso es lo que me inspiró para elegir los colores: una variedad de azules claros, blanco, café claro, dos tonos de verde, crema, gris y blanco.  Esta es la nueva versión…

I decided to make it a bit more simple than the other (Fantasy blanket), so I used only three stitch patterns: (1) DC + granny center; (2) Shells; (3) Wave variation.  In the next post, I will be sharing the graphic patterns, in case any of you would like to give it a try…   

Para hacerla más simple, sólo usé tres puntadas fantasía: (1) puntos altos con centro de granny; (2) conchas; (3) otra variación de las ondas.  En la próxima entrada les compartiré las gráficas de estas puntadas, en caso que deseen probarlas…
