The crochet tablecloth for my dinner table is finally finished…

Finalmente el mantel en ganchillo para mi comedor está terminado…

This project started as a table runner, but grew into a full table cloth.  It is made with fine cotton, in double thread, hook 3.5 mm.  I used a motif by Pierrot (Gosyo Co.), which I found in Ravelry: 665mf Cotton Neat Motif

I made the centers in Autumn colors, and the last row in cream, which gives it a bit of a polka-dot effect.  The border is improvised. It has become a statement piece in my dining room, and I love it.  

Al principio, comencé este proyecto como un centro de mesa, pero me gustó tanto que decidí hacer un mantel entero.  Utilicé un algodón fino (doble hilo) y un gancho de 3.5 mm.  La aplicación que utilicé es de un sitio japonés, Pierrot Gosyo, cuyo enlace se encuentra en Ravelry: 665mf Cotton Neat Motif. 

Para el centro de las aplicaciones utilicé colores otoñales, y todo el fondo lo hice en color crema.  El borde lo improvisé.  El mantel resultó muy vistoso, y me gusta mucho como se luce en mi comedor.

The idea of making a table runner actually progressed, and now I decided to make a full tablecloth.  I just had to make sure I could find enough cream cotton thread…and I did (with the help of some friends!). 

La idea de hacer un centro de mesa progresó…y ahora decidí hacer un mantel completo.  Sólo tenía que asegurarme de encontrar suficiente hilo crema, y ya lo logré (con la ayuda de unas amiguitas). 

It turned out to be a big huge project, but I am actually enjoying the process very much, and it is flying.  I found a way to join the motifs in a continuous way, and this is making the progress so much easier.  It is almost covering the whole table now!  I can´t wait to use it on my dinner table…     

A veces pienso que estoy un poco loca al tratar de hacer un proyecto tan grande; pero la realidad es que lo estoy disfrutando mucho, y está avanzando rápidamente.  Me ingenié la forma de unir los motifs en forma continua, y eso hace que el proceso sea mucho más fácil. Ya casi esta cubriendo toda la mesa.  No aguanto las ganas de usar el mantel en mi mesa de comedor…

World Cup Project

There is a world-wide party going on: the Soccer World Cup, Brazil 2014.  I am not a huge sports fan, but I can´t help to turn on the TV to follow the soccer games.  Why I am telling you this?  Well, because I decided to start a new crochet project while “half-watching” the games... 

Hay una fiesta a nivel mundial: La Copa Mundial de Fútbol, Brasil 2014.  No soy una gran fanática de los deportes, pero no puedo evitar participar de cierta forma de esta fiesta.  ¿Por qué les cuento esto?  Porque decidí comenzar un nuevo proyecto en ganchillo mientras que “medio veo” el Mundial… 

I am making a lacy table runner for my dining table, with fine cotton in double thread.  I will be using a motif I found in Pinterest.  The motifs will have color in the center and off white on the background. 

It is a big project, so I am wondering how far I can go while the World Cup runs…

Decidí hacer un mantel en ganchillo para la mesa del comedor, con hilo doble de algodón.  Estaré usando un motif que encontré en Pinterest.  El centro de los motifs irán con colores otoñales, y el fondo en color crema. 

Es un proyecto grande, así que me pregunto cuánto lograré avanzar en el transcurso de la Copa Mundial…

Autum Hexagon Blanket

My Autumn Hexagon Blanket is all done.  I have been doing this for ages, and finally it is finished.

Esta es mi frazada otoña…la comencé hace tiempo, y finalmente la terminé. 

It is made with 143 floral hexagons. 

Está formada de 143 hexágonos florales.  

I used the hexagon motif called “Love at First Sight Hexagon” @ Le Monde de Sucrette. 

El patrón gráfico lo encuentran @ Le Monde de Sucrette, bajo el título “Love at First Sight” (lit. amor a primer vista).

Then, to fill the gaps on the border, I used this tutorial I wrote in my old blog (Lanas & Hilos): “Fill the Gap in the Hex”. 

Para rellenar los espacios en el borde, usé un tutorial que escribí en mi antiguo blog (Lanas & Hilos): “Relleno para hexágonos”.

The yarn I used is a fine alpaca from Peru (Alpandina), in colors: brown, beige, orange, peach, yellow, and three shades of green.  All background is in a light beige. Instead of mixing and matching all colors, I decided to make three combinations, and repeat them.

La lana que utilicé es una alpaca fina del Perú (Alpandina), en colores: marrón, naranja, beige, amarillo, durazno, beige, y tres tonos de verde.  Todo el fondo es en beige claro. En lugar de mezclar todos los colores, decidí hacer tres combinaciones, y repetirlas. 

For the border, I followed the simple granny-stripe pattern, for more rows. And on the last row, I came up with this final simple edge.   

Para el borde, seguí la misma puntada de la abuelita alrededor.  Luego de varias pasadas, lo terminé con una puntilla simple que improvisé. 

Its special place will be on the couch in my living room.   

Su lugar especial será en el sofá de mi sala de estar.

Blankets in Progress...

Now that I finished my niece´s blanket (Blue Canvas), I need to get back to my two blankets that I started so long ago…

Ahora que terminé la frazada de mi sobrina (Lienzo Azul), necesito volver a trabajar en dos frazadas que comencé hace tiempo…

1. Peaceful Blanket

I am making this floral blanket for my bedroom. 

Estoy haciendo esta frazada floral para mi dormitorio.

I am using the motif called “Love at First Sight Hex” (pattern @ Le Monde de Sucrette). All motifs have a beige center; then I am alternating between three colors: purples, green and neutrals.  The background will be in cream.

Estoy usando el motif llamado “Amor a Primera Vista” (patrón @ Le Monde de Sucrette).  Todos los centros son de color beige; y luego estaré alternando entre tres colores: morados, verdes y neutrales. Todo el fondo será en crema.

I will be using a lot of my worsted stash for this one, but I confess I have bought a few extra colors for balance. Of course, extra cream will be needed!

Sin lugar a dudas usaré muchas de mis lanas acumuladas para esta frazada, pero confieso que he comprado algunos colores extra para darle balance.  Por supuesto, necesitaré más crema… 

2.  Autumn Blanket

I am making this blanket for my living room.  I am using a light Alpaca yarn, which I bought some years back. 

Esta frazada la estoy haciendo para mi sala de estar. Está hecha con lana de Alpaca, que compré hace varios años.

I am using Autumn tones. Instead of mixing and matching all colors, I decided to make three basic color combinations, and repeat them throughout.

Estaré usando colores otoñales.  En lugar de combinar todos los colores, decidí escoger tres combinaciones básicas, y repetirlas en toda la frazada.  

I am also using the “Love at First Sight” motif for this blanket. 

Para esta frazada, también estoy usando el motif “Amor a Primera Vista” (allí pueden encontrar la gráfica).

Blue Canvas Blanket

The Blue Canvas blanket is all finished…all 108 squares and border!

La frazada “Lienzo Azul” ya está terminada… los 108 cuadros con el borde.

It is a gift for my niece.  She is going to set it on the foot of her bed; but, if extended, it covers the whole bed (queen size).

Es un regalo especial para una sobrina, para ponerlo al pie de su cama, y extendida cubre toda la cama.

The motif is a modified version of the “Sunburst”, which I also used for a cushion not long ago (check: “Study Cushion” for a graphic chart and more information).

El motif es una versión modificada del “Sunburst”, el cual también usé para un cojín (visiten: “Cojín del Estudio” para ver la gráfica y más información).

I joined the squares with simple crochet stitches.  To avoid the join from being too bulky, I actually made: *1sc+ch1* (skipping a st with every chain).

Los cuadros están unidos con punto bajo, alternado con una cadena, para evitar una unión abultada.

My niece wanted the border to be simple, very simple…and all in blue. So I continued with a few rows of granny stripes, and then a final row of hdc.  To close up the border, I used slip stitch all around.   

Mi sobrina quería un borde simple…así que seguí con la puntada granny, y terminé con una pasada de hdc (semi-punto alto) y al final, punto deslizado. 

This is a truly stash-buster project.  All yarn was from my stash, except for the navy blue for the background and one extra cream.

Este proyecto lo hice prácticamente con lana acumulada; sólo tuve que comprar la lana azul del fondo y una de color crema.

Call me crazy…but I am SO tempted to make another one (maybe for a baby girl)…

No crean que estoy loca…pero tengo ganas de hacer otra (tal vez para bebé)…

Cushion with Sunburst-like Motif

I had left-over yarn from my “Study In Squares” blanket, so I thought of making a flowery cushion with the remaining yarn…

Me quedó lana sobrante de la frazadaque hice para mi estudio, así que pensé hacer un cojín floreado… 

I used the same colours as the blanket: grey, cream, fuscia, vintage pink, green, camel, beige; and for the background: brown.

Utilicé los mismos colores de la frazada: gris, crema, fucsia, rosado antiguo, verde, camello, beige, y todo el fondo en café.

Both sides of the cushion are made with the flower motifs.

Ambos lados del cojín los hice con el motif de las flores. 

I was inspired by the famous “Sunburst motif”, but made a few variations to the original pattern: (a) For the center, instead of using trebles, I made a row of 8 sc, and then a row of 16 Dc.  (b)  Instead of the 5-DC clusters, I made 3 Dc clusters, for the petals.  For those of you who like graphic patterns as much as I do, here it is...
