Colorful Polka Dots

I have been a little quiet here in the blog, but I hope to pick it up this year. Let me start by showing you a lovely blanket my mom made: a colorful “polka-dot” blanket, made with hexagon motifs...

Quiero compartirles una linda manta de bebé que mi mamá hizo: una manta de lunares coloridos, hecha con aplicaciones hexagonales...

 

The motif starts with a circle (2 rows), and on the last row, it is turned into a hexagon…and joined as-you-go. The border was a little tricky, but she found a way to make it straight. 

La aplicación comienza con un círculo (en las dos primeras hileras), y en la última pasada se convierte en un hexágono, y se une también. El borde fue un reto, pero mi mamá logró que tomara forma rectangular. 

It is a super-cute blanket. Congrats, mom!

El resultado fue una manta bellísima. ¡Felicitaciones, mami!

Baby set: Coral & White

This special baby set is a collaboration of my aunt, my mom and me, as a gift for a friend who just had a baby girl…

Este set para bebé es un regalo para una amiga que acaba de tener su bebé, hecho en colaboración con mi tía y mi mamá…

My aunt made the blanket using the “block or mosaic stitch”.  My mom made the border of the receiving blanket (with monkeys) and the cardigan (which is similar to the ones I made recently: Cute Baby Cardigan & Boy Version).  And I made the accessories: the headband and hair clips.  Don´t you love this color combination: coral, white, grey?

Mi tía tejió la manta en ganchillo, usando punto mosaico.  Mi mamá hizo el borde de la manta pequeña de franela,  al igual que el cardigan (similar a los que hice hace unas semanas: Baby Cardigan & Boy version).  Y yo hice los accesorios: la cinta de cabeza y los ganchos de pelo.  ¿No les parece hermosa la combinación de colores: coral, blanco y gris?

Today we have a special guest with a special project…

Hoy tenemos a una invitada especial, con un proyecto muy lindo… 

I had to share with you this lovely blanket that my aunt made.  It is a crochet blanket made for a young lady.  She used the “Larksfoot Stitch” (which you can find @ Crochet Geek).  I love the colors, which remind me of the ocean, and the border makes me thinks of waves.  ¡Lovely blanket, Chichi!

Tenía que compartirles algunas fotos de una linda manta de ganchillo hecha por mi tía.  Ella usó el punto conocido como “Larksfoot” (lit. pata de alondra).  Pueden encontrar un tutorial con gráfica y video (en inglés) en el blog Crochet Geek.  Los colores de la manta me recuerdan al océano y el bordillo asemejan olas del mar. ¡Linda manta, Chichi!

Blanket: Granny's Love

Aquí les comparto otro proyecto de una invitada especial…

My aunt made this baby blanket for a baby girl.  As you can see, it is a twist of the classic granny squares and stripes.  It is from a pattern called “Granny’s Love” from the book “Our Best Baby Afghans” by Leisure Arts.  Yarn: Caron Simply Soft. 

This blanket was the main feature of a very special gift for the birth of a baby girl.

Mi tía hizo esta linda manta para una niña.  La base está hecha con hileras de cuadritos de la abuelita (ing. granny squares).  El patrón se encuentra en un libro de ganchillo en inglés: “Our Best Baby Afghans” de Leisure Arts.  Lana acrílica: Caron Simply Soft. 

Esta manta es parte de un regalo muy especial para el nacimiento de una niña.
