What could be better than granny squares to use the small pieces of yarn? Currently I am making two baby blankets, one for a girl and one for a boy.

¿Qué mejor proyecto para los restos que los cuadritos granny (de la abuelita)? Estoy haciendo una con colores de niña y otra versión más varonil.

I am also making two “C2C” blankets (Corner to corner), one with purple & pink tones, and the other in beige & cream.

También estoy haciendo dos mantas “esquina a esquina”, una en tonos lila y rosado, y la otra en tonos neutrales.

Diving with Red

One of my favorite shawls is the “Diving In”.  I love its diagonal stripes and its versatility.  Because of its structure, it can be used both as a shawlette or as a long triangle scarf.  My mom and I have made a few already (In Love with a New Shawl; Mom’sDiving Shawl; Blue Diving), and now we decided to make another one in shades of grey, cream and a splash of red…

Uno de mis chales favoritos es el “Diving In”.  Realmente me gustan sus líneas diagonales y su versatilidad.  Debido a su estructura, puede usarse como un chal pequeño o como una bufanda triangular.  Mi mamá y yo ya hemos tejido varios (In Love with a New Shawl; Mom’s Diving Shawl; Blue Diving), y ahora hicimos uno más en tonos gris, rojo y crema…

My mom made this Diving shawl with Merino wool, and I made mine with Angora/Mohair and a variety of medium yarns I had in my stash.  l am sure this is a pattern I will make once and again.

2 Long Hats

Two more hats, to be used for a baby photoshoot…

Dos gorras más, que serán utilizadas para una sesión fotográfica…

These hats have long tails, and a pompom at the end.  I made them from the tip down in crochet, using a light acrylic yarn (Dora), and hook 4mm.  You can find a similar pattern @ Ravelry: Long-Tailed Baby elf hat.

Estas gorras son largas, y tienen un ponpon al final.  Las hice en ganchillo, con una lana acrílica liviana, y un gancho 4 mm.  Pueden encontrar un patrón similar @ Ravelry (en inglés): Long-Tailed Baby elf hat [o pueden improvisar, como lo hice yo].

World Cup Project

There is a world-wide party going on: the Soccer World Cup, Brazil 2014.  I am not a huge sports fan, but I can´t help to turn on the TV to follow the soccer games.  Why I am telling you this?  Well, because I decided to start a new crochet project while “half-watching” the games... 

Hay una fiesta a nivel mundial: La Copa Mundial de Fútbol, Brasil 2014.  No soy una gran fanática de los deportes, pero no puedo evitar participar de cierta forma de esta fiesta.  ¿Por qué les cuento esto?  Porque decidí comenzar un nuevo proyecto en ganchillo mientras que “medio veo” el Mundial… 

I am making a lacy table runner for my dining table, with fine cotton in double thread.  I will be using a motif I found in Pinterest.  The motifs will have color in the center and off white on the background. 

It is a big project, so I am wondering how far I can go while the World Cup runs…

Decidí hacer un mantel en ganchillo para la mesa del comedor, con hilo doble de algodón.  Estaré usando un motif que encontré en Pinterest.  El centro de los motifs irán con colores otoñales, y el fondo en color crema. 

Es un proyecto grande, así que me pregunto cuánto lograré avanzar en el transcurso de la Copa Mundial…

4° Mood Blanket + one

This is the fourth blanket for the Mood Blanket Challenge 2014…

Esta es la cuarta manta para el RetoMood Blanket 2014… 

It is a baby boy blanket, made in crochet.  I kept it simple this time:  All Dc stripes.  But to make it fun, I alternated colors:  Country blue, grey, cream, autumn red, light blue, brown and beige. 

Es una manta para un bebé, hecha en ganchillo.  La puntada es muy simple: todos puntos altos.  Para hacerlo divertido, decidí alternar los colores: azul, gris, crema, rojo, celeste, café y beige.

My aunt also made one of these "Dc stripes" baby blankets, but alternated colors…but for a baby girl.  It is so cute!

Mi tía también hizo una de estas mantas de bebé con puntos altos y colores intercalados…pero para niña.  ¡Es tan tierna!

Mood Blanket Challenge: 123 / 365

Don´t think I have forgotten about the Mood Blanket Challenge…

No crean que me he olvidado del RetoMood Blanket…

I have been quietly working the rows for the next Mood Blanket.  This time I will keep it simple:  All Dc stripes.  I will alternate between the following colors to make a blanket for a baby boy: Brown, grey, cream, autumn red, light blue and beige.  My progress so far: 23 stripes (one color stripe per day).

Calladamente he estado tejiendo hilera por hilera de la próxima manta del reto Mood Blanket.   En esta ocasión estoy usando una puntada simple, de sólo puntos altos.  Elegí los siguientes colores para una manta de niño: café, gris, crema, celeste, beige y rojo otoño.  Mi progreso a la fecha: 23 franjas.

I already started the third “baby Mood Blanket”…

Ya comencé a tejer la tercera manta de bebé para el reto “Mood Challenge”…

Inspired by spring, I started the blanket with flower motifs…but they “my mood” took me in a different direction, and I continued it with granny stripes.  Today is the day 90 of the challenge, so I am a little more advanced than the pictures show.  If all goes as planned, I should finish it next week…

Inspirada en la primavera, comencé la manta con flores…pero luego le di un giro al tema, y seguí con líneas granny.  Hoy es el día 90 del Reto, así que voy un poco más avanzada que lo que muestran las fotos.  Si no hay contratiempos, debería terminar esta manta la próxima semana…

Stash Garter Blanket

Yes!  I finished the last stash Project of 2013, which actually became the first stash project of 2014.

Finalmente terminé el último proyecto de lanas acumuladas del 2013, que ahora se convirtió en mi primer proyecto del 2014. 

It is a small knit blanket, for a baby boy. 

Es una manta pequeña, para bebé, tejida con dos agujas. 

All in garter stitch (all rows knit, no purls).  The border is crochet (*sc + ch1*), in navy blue.  

Está tejida sólo con puntos derechos, pero el borde está hecho en ganchillo, en color azul marino.  

I used different yarns from my stash, all medium worsted.  Colors: navy blue, white, red, green, yellow, berry blue, light blue, grey. 

Utilicé lanas medianas que tenía acumuladas, en colores: azul, blanco, celeste, verde, amarillo y gris.

Crochet Mood Blanket 2014

In Instagram, there is a crochet challenge that started on January 1^st: Crochet Mood Blanket 2014.  The challenge consists of making one granny square a day to make a total of 365 at the end of the year (or one per week, to finish with 52 squares).  The squares can be joined “as you go” to form a blanket, or joined together at the end.

En Instagram se está llevando a cabo un reto de ganchillo que comenzó el primero de enero.  El reto consiste en tejer un cuadro de la abuelita (ing. granny square) cada día para alcanzar un total de 365 al año [o también está la opción de hacer uno por semana para un total de 52]. Los cuadros se pueden ir uniendo en el camino, o al final, para formar una manta grande.

It is called “Mood Blanket” because we are supposed to choose the color of each square depending on our mood of that day.  I personally decided to choose the color not related to my mood but to my inspiration, as I will be making baby blankets with the granny squares, which will be later donated to a hospital.

Se le llama “Manta Temperamental” porque uno debe escoger el color de cada día según el humor que uno tenga en ese momento.  Personalmente decidí escoger el color por inspiración del momento, y no tanto por el temperamento, ya que usaré los cuadros para hacer mantas de bebé para donarlos a un hospital.

Final Stash Report: December

We have reached the final days of December, and it is time to make the final report on stash-busting…

Hemos llegado al final de diciembre, y es tiempo de presentar el reporte final del reto de lanas acumuladas…

In December, I finished my big blanket, Peaceful Hexagon.  And I even made an Infinity Scarf with the leftover purple yarns.

En Diciembre, logré terminar lafrazada grande de hexágonos.  Y con las lanas sobrantes de ese proyecto tejí una bufanda infinita en tonos morados. 

I also happened to finish the Autumn Hex blanket, but I am still working on the border.  I will make the Tadah in January.

Logré terminar la otra frazada de hexágonos (Otoñal), pero todavía estoy haciendo el borde.  Se las presentaré completa el mes próximo.

As a last stash-busting effort of the year, I started a small knit blanket, and it is 2/3 done.

Como un último esfuerzo para usar lanas acumuladas, este mes comencé a tejer una manta para bebé, la cual va bastante avanzada, pero tendré que terminarla en enero.
