Colorful Camera Strap

I played a bit with my yarn stash this weekend, and made a crochet cover for my camera strap…

Este fin de semana estuve jugando un poco con mis lanas acumuladas…y tejí una cubierta para la correa de mi cámara…

I thought the plain black strap of my camera was really boring, so I decided to do something about it.  I chose some blues, greens, purples and greys from my DK yarn, and began to make two colorful straps, all made with plain Dc rows, but made fun by changing colors. Then I simply joined both straps with sc’s in black, covering the original strap, which I secured by sewing a few stitches with a fine black thread.  Simple and fun!

La correo original de mi cámara me parecía muy aburrida, toda negra, sin gracia.  Así que decidí hacer algo para alegrarle.  Escogí unas lanitas de colores azules/verdes y morados/grises, y comencé a hacer dos tiras de puntos altos, intercambiando colores.  Luego uní las dos tiras con putos bajos en negro, y las cosí sobre la correa original.  ¡Simple y divertido!    

Gift for Baby Girl

A cousin bought this cute cotton dress for a special gift, and she asked me to make a blue bolero to match it.  She also asked me to make a pair of tiny sandals to go with them...

Una prima compró este bello vestido de algodón para un regalo especial, y me pidió que le tejiera un bolero azul que le combinara.  También quería unas sandalias de bebé..

This is the third baby top I have made using the Rosebud Baby Girl Cardigan pattern. The original cardigan has short sleeves and long torso, but I went the opposite way in order to make a Bolero, perfect to match a little dress.  The sandals are improvised (I found inspiration in some photos I saw in Pinterest).  I think the whole set turned out to be very cute, don´t you think? 

Este es el tercer Cardigan Rosebud para bebé que he tejido…  El cardigan original tiene mangas cortas y torso largo, pero yo lo hice opuesto para hacer un bolerito que combinara con un vestido de bebé.  Para las sandalias, tuve que improvisar, inspirada por unas fotos que encontré en Pinterest).  Creo que el set completo quedó muy lindo, ¿no les parece?

Red & Cream

A young mom asked me to make a hat with ear flaps for her baby girl, in color cream and red.

Una madre joven me pidió una gorra con orejeras para su bebé, en colores rojo y crema.

She also wanted matching crochet boots and mittens.

También quería unas botitas y mitones en ganchillo que le combinaran. 

I had to add a flower, of course!  And braids for the ear flaps.

Por supuesto, tenía que ponerle una florecita. Y también unas trenzas para las orejeras. 

They are as sweet as peppermint canes.

Son tan dulces como las cañas de menta.

Many of you guessed correctly on the last post’s question…it is a GIRAFFE!

Todas adivinaron correctamente a la pregunta (en la adivinanza de la entrada anterior)…¡Es una jirafa! 

It is a crochet hat for a baby boy.  All the pieces were sewn later (the eyes are buttons on flannel).  

Es una gorra a crochet para un bebé.  Todas las piezas fueron cosidas a mano después (los ojos son botones sobre franela). 

But today it is not only about the giraffe, but also other animal friends: an elephant, a bear and a dog, all in crochet…

Pero hoy no sólo se trata de la jirafa, sino de otros animalitos: un elefante, un oso y un perro, todos hechos en ganchillo… 

A simple beige hat with ear flaps and braids…

Una gorra simple en color beige, con orejeras y trenzas…

…topped with bear ears, makes a bear hat.  So simple, elegant and cute!

…con unas orejitas de oso.  Tan simple, elegante y tierno.

Elegant Knitting Markers

A while ago I was given some fantasy jewelry beads. I made some earrings then, but now I thought I could also use the rest to make some knitting markers.

Hace un tiempo me regalaron unas cuentas de fantasía. Hice unos aretes entonces, pero ahora pensé que podía usar el resto para hacer unos marcadores para las agujas de tejer.

A few beads + a silver pin + a small ring = an elegant knitting marker.

Unas cuentas + un alfiler plateado + un aro pequeño = un marcador para tejidos. 

Most of these markers are made with Swarovski beads.    They are as shiny as diamonds, with so many facets.  So elegant!

La mayoría de estos marcadores están hechos con cuentas de cristal Swarovski, tan brillantes como diamantes.  Elegantes. 

I love my new knitting markers!

For my Knitting Needles

I just finished making a new container for my knitting needles. 

Acabo de hacer un nuevo contenedor para mis agujas de tejer. 

It is made with a recycled container, bulky yarn and glue.   

Está hecha con una lata grande reciclada, lana gruesa y goma blanca. 

Recycling is so satisfying ...and so is stash-busting!

Es muy satisfactorio reciclar…y también usar las lanas acumuladas.

3 Clam Shell Projects

These three projects were made with Cherry Heart’s Clam Shell Pattern (as part of a CAL--crochet-along):

 a. CLAMSHELL TOTE

This is a small tote bag where I can store and carry around my small WIP projects.

Esta es una bolsa para guardar y llevar mis tejidos pequeños. 

I mixed some neutral grey tones with white, and other brighter colours: Lime green, Turquoise, Teal, Burgundy, Orchid pink

Usé tonos neutrales (gris y blanco) en contraste con colores brillantes: verde limón, turquesa, vino, rosado, azul verde. 

I crocheted this project on the round. For the straps, I made a long tubular strip of grey, which is passed through some gaps on the next-to-last row…

Este proyecto está hecho en redondo. Para el cinto, hice una tira tubular en gris, que pasa por los espacios anchos de la penúltima hilera…

This strap is also connected to a wooden ring sewn on the side of the bag (so it can be worn over the shoulders!)

El cinto se conecta con un anillo de madera que está cocido al lado de la bolsa (para usarlo cómodamente sobre el hombro). 

b. CLAMSHELL CASE    

My first try at making the tote came out too small…so instead of unraveling, I decided to turn it into a small case.

Mi primer intento para hacer la bolsa me salió muy pequeño…así que, en lugar de deshacerlo, decidí convertirlo en un estuche. 

I will use it to carry my knit/crochet accessories. 

Le añadí un cierre y forro, y ya está listo para usar…

I added a zipper and lining, and now it is ready to go…

Lo usaré para llevar mis accesorios de tejido.  

c. CLAM BABY BLANKET

My mom used the clamshell pattern to make this cute blanket for a baby girl.

Mi mamá usó el patrón “Clam Shell” para hacer esta linda manta para niña. 

The blanket is super light because it is made with a lovely Alpaca yarn (Alpandina, from Peru). 

La manta es muy liviana ya que está hecha con una linda lana de Alpaca (Alpandina, del Perú)

Colors: Pink, Lavender, Light Blue, Bright Green and White.

Colores: rosado, lavanda, celeste pálido, verde limón, blanco.

 And, how cute is this lacy border!!!

Y ¡qué bello es el borde calado!
