Noah's Ark with grannys

Last year I made this “Noah’s Ark” blanket, and I completely forgot to share it here in the blog…

El año pasado hice esta manta del Arca de Noé, y se me olvidó compartirla en el blog… 

The idea for this one came from the one I made years ago (Noah’s Ark blanket # 1).  For the first one I used the “waves stitch” for the water.  For this second one, I made all the background with granny squares.  I think both have their own charm.  As for the ark and animals, all were made free-form.

La idea vino de otra que hice hace varios años (Manta del Arca de Noé #1).  En la primera usé la puntada de ondas para el agua; en ésta hice todo el fondo con cuadritos de la abuelita.  Creo que cada una tiene su propio encanto.  Y en cuanto al arca y los animales, todos están hechos en forma libre (sin patrón).

It is a small blanket for a baby carriage.  I made it with DK yarn in bright colors, with a white background.  Total squares: 30.  For the border, I used the mosaic or block stitch.  This is the second time I have made this blanket (Daisy Blanket I), and I love it.  You can find the pattern @ Color ‘n Cream: Flower Square Tutorial.

Es una manta pequeña, para carruaje de bebé.  La hice con lana liviana en colores brillantes, con fondo blanco.  En total son 30 cuadros.  Para el borde, usé el punto mosaico o bloque.  Esta es la segunda vez que hago esta manta (Manta Margarita I), y me gusta mucho.  Pueden encontrar el tutorial (en inglés) y la gráfica para el cuadro @ Color ‘n Cream.

…with the cotton top.  I am knitting on the round, from the bottom up; I will separate the front and back when reaching the arms. 

…con la blusa de algodón.  Estoy tejiendo en redondo, desde abajo para arriba; cuando llegue a la parte de los brazos, separaré las parte de frente y atrás. 

Also making progress with the Daisy blanket.  I finished the squares, and it is now time to join them.  I am using a continuous joining method, so this part will go faster than usual.

También estoy avanzando con la manta de margaritas.  Ya terminé los cuadros, y ahora es tiempo de unirlos.  Estoy usando un método de unión continua, así que iré más rápido (en los enlaces siguientes encuentran las instrucciones en inglés, pero con gráficas y fotos).

Baby set: Coral & White

This special baby set is a collaboration of my aunt, my mom and me, as a gift for a friend who just had a baby girl…

Este set para bebé es un regalo para una amiga que acaba de tener su bebé, hecho en colaboración con mi tía y mi mamá…

My aunt made the blanket using the “block or mosaic stitch”.  My mom made the border of the receiving blanket (with monkeys) and the cardigan (which is similar to the ones I made recently: Cute Baby Cardigan & Boy Version).  And I made the accessories: the headband and hair clips.  Don´t you love this color combination: coral, white, grey?

Mi tía tejió la manta en ganchillo, usando punto mosaico.  Mi mamá hizo el borde de la manta pequeña de franela,  al igual que el cardigan (similar a los que hice hace unas semanas: Baby Cardigan & Boy version).  Y yo hice los accesorios: la cinta de cabeza y los ganchos de pelo.  ¿No les parece hermosa la combinación de colores: coral, blanco y gris?

Summer Top in progress

Warmer weather has arrived, and it is time to take out the cotton yarns… 

Ya está llegando el calorcito, y es hora de sacar los hilos de algodón…

I am making a knit summer top, combining two cotton threads (one lace and one super fine).  I am going for a “jeans look”.  I am improvising, so I am hoping it will work (fingers crossed!).

Estoy tejiendo a dos agujas una blusa en algodón, combinando hilos finos de dos colores para darle un toque “vaquero” (estilo jeans).  Estoy improvisando, así que espero que todo salga bien.

Two years ago I made the Daisy Blanket, and I loved it.  So I thought I should make it again.  This time, I will make a few changes: I will use the Join-as-you-go method for joining the squares (last time I joined with sc sts), and I will use a DK yarn (last time I used worsted).  Here are some shots of the work in progress…

Hace dos años hice una Manta Margarita (Daisy Blanket), y me gustó tanto que pensé en repetirla de nuevo.  Pero en esta ocasión haré algunos cambios: usaré una lana más liviana, y uniré los cuadros con en la última pasada de forma continua (en lugar de con puntos bajos, como lo hice en la anterior).  Aquí hay unas fotos del progreso…

Un poncho primaveral…

My mom made a granny poncho, using some of her cotton stash, which makes it perfect for spring.   She went for green and neutral tones, with a touch of purple.  For a special touch, she used the Mosaic Stitch for the border.  I have to confess that I am feeling inspired to make one for myself (maybe soon!)

Mi mamá se tejió un poncho en ganchillo con puntada granny.  Está hecho con algodón en tonos verdes, neutrales y un toque de morado.  Para darle un toque especial, el borde final lo hizo en punto mosaico.  Debo confesar que me están dando ganas de hacerme uno (¡tal vez pronto!).

I made this crochet cardigan for a baby girl.  It is basically all white with a big splash of color on the neck/chest part.  I did not follow a pattern, but was inspired by one: the “Fairly-isleish Cardigan” @ Ravelry. 

Tejí este cardigan en ganchillo para una bebé.  Básicamente es toda en blanco, con unos detalles de color en la parte del cuello/pecho.  No seguí el patrón, pero me inspiré en uno que se encuentra en Ravelry: Fairly-isleish Cardigan

Blanket for a Baby Boy

A friend just had a baby boy.  As a gift, I made a blanket…

Una amiga acaba de dar a luz a su bebé, y le tejí una manta para su carruaje…

It is made all with Dc stitches (except the orange stripes that are made with Hdc st).  Inspired by the carriage, I used the following colors: brown, green, blue, baby blue, beige and cream.  For the border I used the “mosaic or block” stitch.  The blanket is big enough to cover the baby carriage (33 x 40”). 

Está hecha toda con puntos altos.  Inspirada en el carruaje, escogí los siguiente colores: café, verde, azul, celeste, beige, crema y naranja.  Para el borde, utilicé el punto mosaico.  La manta es suficientemente grande para cubrir el carruaje del bebé (aprox. 87 x 98 cms).

Remember the “Chocolate Shrug” I recently made?  Well, another friend wanted one too, so I made her one…

¿Recuerdan el “Chaleco Chocolate” que tejí recientemente?  Resulta que otra amiga quería uno, y se lo tejí… 

This time I used a variegated Merino yarn in shades of orange, brown and cream, and mixed it with a beige angora.  The border is all in beige (with 2x2 rib made with 2 front-post sts and 2 back-post sts).

En esta ocasión usé un merino en todos naranjas, marrones y crema, y lo combiné con una lana de angora en color beige.  Él borde está hecho en tono beige con una puntada resorte 2x2.

White Bolero

A bolero for a cute little girl…

Un bolerito blanco para una niña linda…

A friend asked me to knit a white sweater for her little girl.  She had a dress for a special occasion, but no sweater to match.  So I made her a little bolero.  Such a cute dress deserves a sweater that does not steal the show, but keeps her warm. 

[Note: the green thread in the third photo is a provisional cast-on for the neck part] 

Una amiga me pidió que le tejiera un cárdigan blanco para su niña.  La chica tenía un vestido para una ocasión especial, pero no tenía un suéter que le combinara.  Así que le hice este bolerito. Un vestido tan lindo merece un suéter que no le robe la atención, pero que la mantenga calientita. 

[Nota: el hilo verde en la tercera foto es parte de los puntos provisionales en el cuello]
