Cushion with Sunburst-like Motif

(Crochet * Stash-buster)

I had left-over yarn from my “Study In Squares” blanket, so I thought of making a flowery cushion with the remaining yarn…

I used the same colours as the blanket: grey, cream, fuscia, vintage pink, green, camel, beige; and for the background: brown.

Both sides of the cushion are made with the flower motifs.

I was inspired by the famous “Sunburst motif”, but made a few variations to the original pattern: (a) For the center, instead of using trebles, I made a row of 8 sc, and then a row of 16 Dc.  (b)  Instead of the 5-DC clusters, I made 3 Dc clusters, for the petals.  For those of you who like graphic patterns as much as I do, here it is...

[Note: Sandra @ Cherry Heart made a very similar motif, and has a wonderful photo-tutorial in her blog: Rosie Posie Grannie].  If you are curious to see the Sunburst original pattern, here is the link: in German (with photos), and in English.  You will notice that the petals are more puffed.]

WIP (work in progress): Currently I am making a blanket with this motif, but with a blue background…

It is ages since I have had a chance to do any crochet, if I can quickly whizz around and visit all my bloggy friends (that I also haven't been fonding time to visit recently ...) then maybe I can squeeze a bit in tonight ...
    Hope you are well
