Larksfoot Blanket

Today is a “Special Guest Day”.  I am sharing a lovely project made by my aunt Chichi...

Hoy tenemos una invitada especial.  Estaré compartiendo un lindo proyecto hecho por mi tía Chichi...  

My aunt made this lovely crochet blanket, for a baby girl.  Yarn: Dora, by Madame Tricote Paris. Colors: bright pink, soft pink, white, grey. 

Mi tía tejió esta linda manta en ganchillo, para una niña.  Lana: Dora, de Madame Tricote Paris.  Colores: rosado fuerte, blanco, rosado pálido y gris.

She used the Larksfoot stitch.  It gives such great texture, and works great with contrasting colors.  You can find the stitch pattern @ Crochet Geek: Larksfoot crochet pattern.   She made up the stitch for the border, and it turned out so lovely.

Utilizó un punto elaborado, conocido en inglés como “Larksfoot”.  El patrón del punto está disponible @ Crochet Geek (en inglés, pero tiene gráfica y tutorial en video).  Se inventó la puntada del borde, y le quedó tan elegante.  

This blanket is a special gift for the birth of a baby girl.  To complete the gift set, she added two baby bodies, a granny hat and a head band. 

Esta manta es un regalo especial para el nacimiento de una niña.  Y para completar el regalo, le añadió una gorra granny, una cinta para la cabeza y dos blusitas.

Owl Hats: For him and her

Owl-shaped baby hats..for him and for her.

Gorras en forma de búho…para niño y niña. 

For him, in light blue and beige. Size: 6 months

Para él, en celeste y beige.  Talla: 6 meses. 

For her, in pale pink and beige. Size: newborn

Para ella, en rosado páliso y beige.  Talla: recién nacido.

Baby Boots

 “These boots were made for walking”…that is how the song goes.  But in this case, these boots were made for a baby girl…

La canción dice: “Estas botas son hechas para caminar”…pero en esta ocasión, fueron hechas para una bebé… 

…Made in crochet, with a bright green yarn, details in cream, plus a wooden button.

…Hechas en ganchillo, con una lana verde, detalles en crema, y un botón de madera.

And a matching hat…with a flower, of course.

Y una gorra que combina…por supuesto,  con una flor.

Also in red...with a white button.

También en rojo...con un botón blanco

This time…a matching head band, with a big 4-petal flower.

Pero en esta ocasión…con una cinta para la cabeza, y una flor grande de 4 pétalos.

The boots and hat were improvised.

Autum Hexagon Blanket

My Autumn Hexagon Blanket is all done.  I have been doing this for ages, and finally it is finished.

Esta es mi frazada otoña…la comencé hace tiempo, y finalmente la terminé. 

It is made with 143 floral hexagons. 

Está formada de 143 hexágonos florales.  

I used the hexagon motif called “Love at First Sight Hexagon” @ Le Monde de Sucrette. 

El patrón gráfico lo encuentran @ Le Monde de Sucrette, bajo el título “Love at First Sight” (lit. amor a primer vista).

Then, to fill the gaps on the border, I used this tutorial I wrote in my old blog (Lanas & Hilos): “Fill the Gap in the Hex”. 

Para rellenar los espacios en el borde, usé un tutorial que escribí en mi antiguo blog (Lanas & Hilos): “Relleno para hexágonos”.

The yarn I used is a fine alpaca from Peru (Alpandina), in colors: brown, beige, orange, peach, yellow, and three shades of green.  All background is in a light beige. Instead of mixing and matching all colors, I decided to make three combinations, and repeat them.

La lana que utilicé es una alpaca fina del Perú (Alpandina), en colores: marrón, naranja, beige, amarillo, durazno, beige, y tres tonos de verde.  Todo el fondo es en beige claro. En lugar de mezclar todos los colores, decidí hacer tres combinaciones, y repetirlas. 

For the border, I followed the simple granny-stripe pattern, for more rows. And on the last row, I came up with this final simple edge.   

Para el borde, seguí la misma puntada de la abuelita alrededor.  Luego de varias pasadas, lo terminé con una puntilla simple que improvisé. 

Its special place will be on the couch in my living room.   

Su lugar especial será en el sofá de mi sala de estar.

More Merino & Angora

Tejí otras bufandas Baktus, usando una combinación de angora y merino.  Son parecidas a la que les mostré hace unas semanas: Baktus: Merino + Angora.  Estoy enamorada del efecto creado al combinar ambas lanas, y eso me lleva a probar otras combinaciones.  Aquí les muestro tres…

1.  Merino in shades of blue, and Angora*  in Cream

Merino en tonos azules y Angora en color crema.

2.  Merino in shades of brown, and Angora*  in Cream

Merino en tonos marrones y Angora en color crema.

3. Merino in shades of grey and Angora* in Country Blue

Merino en tonos gris y crema, Angora en color azul.

Guess what?  I found other colors of variegated Merino, so I will be making more of these…

¿Adivinen?  Encontré más lanas de merino en otros tonos, así que estaré haciendo más de éstas…

…It looks like it is knit, but it actually crochet.

…Parece tejida con dos agujas, pero en realidad está hecha en ganchillo.

…It looks like it is a little heavy, but it is actually very soft and flexible.

…Parece un poco pesada, pero en realidad es muy liviana y flexible. 

…It looks like it took me a week to make, but it just took me two days.

…Parece que tardaría una semana en tejerla, pero sólo me tomó dos días.

I used medium yarn in color wine, and hook 5.5 mm.  I am sure I will be making more of these in the future…

Utilicé lana mediana y un gancho de 5.5 mm.  Estoy segura que haré más de éstas en el futuro...

Stash Garter Blanket

Yes!  I finished the last stash Project of 2013, which actually became the first stash project of 2014.

Finalmente terminé el último proyecto de lanas acumuladas del 2013, que ahora se convirtió en mi primer proyecto del 2014. 

It is a small knit blanket, for a baby boy. 

Es una manta pequeña, para bebé, tejida con dos agujas. 

All in garter stitch (all rows knit, no purls).  The border is crochet (*sc + ch1*), in navy blue.  

Está tejida sólo con puntos derechos, pero el borde está hecho en ganchillo, en color azul marino.  

I used different yarns from my stash, all medium worsted.  Colors: navy blue, white, red, green, yellow, berry blue, light blue, grey. 

Utilicé lanas medianas que tenía acumuladas, en colores: azul, blanco, celeste, verde, amarillo y gris.
