Experiment in White

I made this white top as an experiment...

La hechura de este blusón fue un completo experimento…

I started by making two rows of granny squares with double-thread white cotton. The rest is made all in Double crochet (Dc), to join on the sides and on the front and back, and granny stripes at the bottom (with the back longer than the front).  At first I joined the two sides with a zigzag st. (as in photo 3), but I did not like it and changed it to granny stripes at the end.

I wanted this to be a mindless project, so I did not take notes...but I am glad the experiment worked out at the end. (No pattern)

Comencé haciendo dos hileras de cuadros granny (de la abuelita), con doble hilo de algodón blanco. El resto está hecho sólo con puntos altos, y en el borde inferior con hileras de punto granny (con la parte de atrás más larga que la de enfrente). Al final cambié la unión del centro porque no me gustó el zigzag (tal como está en la foto). 

No tomé notas porque no quería estresarme en el proceso…pero me alegro que el experimento salió bien al final.  (No hay patrón)

I had a crazy idea to mix crochet and knitting to make a cotton top. It was a bit of a risk, but I am happy that it worked out…

Tuve una idea loca de combinar ganchillo con tejido a dos agujas para hacer una blusa de algodón. Implicaba un riesgo, pero me alegra decir que funcionó…

This top is made from the top down.  First, I started with crochet motifs for the top part. I used double fine thread in color cream, with a 4 mm hook. Then I transitioned into the blue cotton. A row in crochet, and then casted into the knitting needles (5mm). From there it was just knitting on the round until I reached the desired length, closing with a rib stitch.  Sometimes it works to take risks!

Esta blusa está hecha de arriba para abajo. Primero comencé con unas aplicaciones en ganchillo, usando doble hilo crema (gancho 4mm). Luego hice la transición a un algodón azul, con una pasada en ganchillo y luego montando el tejido a unas agujas de tejer (5mm). El resto lo tejí en redondo con puntada derecha, y el borde final en resorte 3x3. A veces vale la pena tomar riesgos, ¿no les parece?

Ocean Top

Summer definitely calls for cotton…

El verano definitivamente llama a usar algodón…

I knitted this top in simple jersey stitch. I am calling it: “Ocean Top”, because its colors remind me of the ocean (Turquoise, blue, green). I used my wooden needles (KnitPro), which I like to use with cotton. I am already planning a second cotton top…with a crochet twist.

Tejí esta blusa en dos agujas, con puntada jersey (todos der al frente, todos revés atrás). Le puse el nombre de: “Blusa Mar” porque sus colores me recuerdan al mar (turquesa, azul, verde).  Usé mis agujas de madera (KnitPro), las cuales me gustan para trabajar con algodón. Ya estoy planeando una segunda blusa…pero con un toque de crochet.

Cotton Poncho

A light poncho in cotton…

Un pocho liviano en algodón…

This poncho is made in crochet, using fine cotton, double thread (hook 4mm).  All in Dcs.  It is made from side to side, in order to get the colored vertical lines on the sleeves.  The background color is all in cream, with the lines in different shades of blue, and a touch of light brown and grey.  It was a little tricky to make the neck part, but it worked.  Finally, I made a few stitches on the sides so that they would not open too much when worn.  And I am really happy with the final result.

Este poncho está hecho en ganchillo, usando hilo de algodón fino, con doble hilo y un gancho de 4mm. Está tejido de lado a lado, para darle el efecto de las líneas verticales en las mangas. La base del poncho es en color crema, y las líneas en tonos de azul, con un toque de café claro y gris. Fue un poco difícil diseñar el cuello, pero salió bien al final.  Cosí unos puntos en el interior de las mangas para evitar que se abriera por los lados.  Al final, quedé satisfecha con el resultado final.

From Poncho to Top

It started as a poncho…but turned into a top at the end…

Comenzó como un poncho…pero luego se convirtió en un chaleco…

I started making a knit poncho, from the top down.  I mixed two yarns: a variegated merino in grey tones and a dark grey angora, using 8mm circular knitting needles.   When I reached the point of the border…I decided to make an experiment: convert the poncho into a top.  It took a bit of knitting and unraveling at the end, but it worked, and I am very happy with the outcome.  I love my cozy “poncho-top”.

Comencé tejiendo un poncho en dos agujas, de arriba para abajo.  Decidí mezclar dos lanas: un merino manchado en tonos grises y una angora gris oscuro, usando agujas 8mm.  Cuando llegué al punto en que debía comenzar el borde, decidí hacer un experimento: convertir el poncho en un jersey de manga corta.  Tuve que tejer y deshacer un poco, pero al final funcionó la prueba, y estoy muy contenta con el resultado: un “poncho-chaleco”. 

Pink & Grey

A baby cardigan in pink and grey…

Un cardigan para bebé en rosado y gris…

It is basically a raglan-style cardigan, knit from the top down.  The top part is made in garter stitch, and the rest in stockinette stitch. I also made a matching granny hat in crochet.  I am loving this combination of antique pink and dark grey.

Básicamente es un cardigan estilo ranglan, tejido de arriba para abajo.  La parte superior está tejida en punto vainilla (sólo derecho), y el resto en punto jersey.  Para combinar, hice una gorrita en ganchillo estilo granny, con una flor.  Me está gustando mucho está combinación de rosado antiguo y gris oscuro. 

Blue Lacy Top

I finally finished the crochet lacy top…

Finalmente terminé la blusa calada en ganchillo…

I used a super light cotton yarn (Anne by Linhas Circulo), with 3.5 mm crochet hook.  The motif is a basic lacy square (see chart), and all motifs are joined on the last row.  The top consists of 76 full motifs, and 2 half motifs (for the neck part).  The border is very simple: 3ch + 1sc, repeated until I reached the desired width. I did not add buttons to make it more versatile.

Usé un hilo de algodón con gancho 3.5 mm (Anne de Linhas Circulo).  La aplicación (motif) es un cuadrado calado básico (ver gráfica), y va unida en la última hilera.  La blusa consiste de 76 aplicaciones completas y dos medias (para el frente del cuello).  El borde es muy simple: 3 cadenas + 1 punto bajo, repetido hasta alcanzar el grosor deseado.  No le añadi botones para hacerlo más versátil.

El verano invita a hacer tejidos calados con algodón…

I am in the process of making a lacy top in crochet, with a light weight cotton and hook 3mm.  It will be similar to one I made for a relative some years ago (Motif Lacy Top @ Lanas & Hilos). 

Actualmente estoy tejiendo una blusa calada en ganchillo con algodón liviano y gancho de 3mm.  Será similar a uno que le hice a una pariente hace unos años (Blusa Calada de Motifs @ Lanas & Hilos).
